Event Brief Description
Event Date: 25th March 2026
The MCA Department, Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), organized an Alumni Talk Session titled "Inspiring the Future Engineers" on 25th March 2026, from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM at the D-Block Auditorium, GCET Campus. The session was held under the theme "Journey of a Java Developer: Lessons from Alumni for Future Engineers" and was designed to connect current students with a successful alumnus whose professional journey serves as a source of motivation and practical guidance.
The esteemed speaker for the session was Mr. Amit Kumar, a 2023 passout of GCET (MCA), who is currently working as a Full Stack Developer at ICAR – Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi. The session aimed to provide students with real-world industry insights, career growth perspectives in Java and Full-Stack Development, and practical guidance for aspiring engineers stepping into the professional world. The event fostered a direct connection between academia and industry, reinforcing the department's commitment to holistic student development and career readiness.
Event Detailed Description
The Alumni Talk Session commenced at 02:00 PM on 25th March 2026 at the D-Block Auditorium, Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida. The event was organized by the MCA Department as part of its initiative to bring alumni back to campus and create a meaningful bridge between student life and professional experience.
The session was graced by Mr. Amit Kumar, a distinguished alumnus and 2023 MCA graduate of GCET, who has successfully established himself as a Full Stack Developer at ICAR – Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi — a premier institution under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India. Mr. Amit Kumar's transition from a student of this very institution to a professional working on real-world government-sector technology projects made his address particularly relatable and inspiring for the audience.
Mr. Kumar began his address by reflecting on his own academic journey at GCET — the challenges he faced, the skills he developed, and the pivotal moments that shaped his career. He provided a detailed walkthrough of the Java development ecosystem, covering core Java programming, object-oriented principles, Spring Boot for backend development, and how these foundational skills remain highly relevant in today's Full-Stack development landscape. He also spoke about integrating frontend technologies with robust Java backends and shared his experience working with government data systems and agricultural statistics platforms at ICAR.
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to career guidance, where Mr. Kumar offered practical advice on resume building, interview preparation, the importance of personal projects and GitHub contributions, and how to navigate the job market as a fresh MCA graduate. He encouraged students to focus on depth over breadth — mastering one core technology stack before expanding their skill set. He also highlighted the importance of internships, open-source participation, and networking through professional platforms.
The talk was followed by an interactive Q&A session, during which students enthusiastically engaged with Mr. Kumar on topics such as career options after MCA, salary expectations, opportunities in government and private sectors, and the relevance of Java in the age of newer frameworks. The session concluded at 05:00 PM with a formal vote of thanks extended to Mr. Amit Kumar for generously sharing his time, experience, and insights. The organizing faculty of the MCA Department were appreciated for coordinating the event successfully, creating a platform that inspires and empowers students to envision and work toward a successful engineering career.
