World Blood Donor Day (June 14th)
Blood Donor Day is an annual event celebrated on June 14th to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and recognize the invaluable contributions of blood donors worldwide. The theme for Blood Donor Day 2023 was "Give Blood, Save Lives." This theme aimed to emphasize the critical role of blood donation in saving lives and promoting the spirit of voluntary blood donation.
Galgotias college of pharmacy organize the blood donation camp (Date: 14/06/2023) in collaboration with Rashtriya Charitable Blood Centre, Greater Noida, U.P. The aim of the camp was to encourage voluntary blood donations, raise awareness about the importance of donating blood, and contribute to the well-being of society. The objectives of camp were raising awareness, encouraging voluntary blood donation, and expressing gratitude towards blood donors. The event played a pivotal role in ensuring a steady supply of blood for patients in need and promoting a sense of social responsibility among individuals. Continued efforts in this direction are essential to maintain a robust blood donation system and save countless lives in the future.
The Director of Galgotias college of Pharmacy, Dr. Vikram Sharma starts the campaign by donating the blood after that Pharmacy faculties, staff members and students donate their blood. The volunteerswere awarded with prize and certificates.
Dr. Vikram Sharma, Director ofGalgotias college of Pharmacy, said that this initiative not only served as a catalyst for community involvement but also created a sense of social responsibility among the participants. Such endeavours continue to promote the spirit of giving and make a significant impact on society's well-being.

As a part of curriculum of PCI and BTE for D. Pharmacy students, the industrial tour is mandatory so as to acquire practical knowledge of theoretical applications.The Industrial visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt Ltd, Rai Industrial Area, Sonipat, Haryana has been organized by Galgotias College of Pharmacy, Greater Noida.The Visit was conducted on 01- 05 - 2023 during the time period 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. under the guidance of Ms. Priya (Sr. Executive, QA).
Brief description about the Company
Yakult is a Japanese probiotic milk-like product made by fermenting a mixture of skimmed milk with a special strain of the bacteriumLactobacillus casei “Shirota”.
It was created by Minoru Shirota who graduated from the Medical School of Kyoto University in 1930. In 1935, he started manufacturing and selling Yakult. Yakult has also introduced a line of beverages for the Japanese market thatcontain Bifidobacterium breve bacteria, and has also used its lactobacilli research to develop cosmetics.More recently, the Yakult Honsha played a major role in developingthe chemotherapy drug irinotecan.
The company has been allotted eight acres of land in the Food Park of Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation.Yakult Honsha, which has 28 plants across the world, is focusing on overseas markets with an aim to bring safe, probiotic products to the consumers. Recent markets for the company include China, Malaysia, New Zealand and Austria.
Brief description about the activity by D. Pharm students
D.Pharm. first year students visited Yakult Danone India Pvt Ltd, Rai Industrial Area, Sonipat, Haryana on 01 May 2023. The company deals in the production of sweetened probiotic milk beverages fermented with the bacteria strain Lactobacillus casei Shirota with an output of 10-12 lakh bottles/Day and distributed in Delhi and NCR on the daily basis.
The students also learned about the probiotics and the role of bacteria in maintaining human health, and several quality checklists (mainly adulterants, temperature, taste, leak test, etc.) conducted by the QC and QA departments to safeguard human health in every possible aspect.

D.Pharm. first year students visited Apollo Cradle and Apollo Spectra Hospital, Pocket 7 NSG Chowk, Yamuna Expy, opposite Mitra Enclave, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh on 26-April-2023 and 28-April-2023.Dr. Sanjay Joshi, Unit Headdepartment of ENT, who received the staff and students made the arrangement to visit various medical specialty including Gynaecology, Laparoscopy, Paediatrics & Neonatology, Fertility, Fatal Medicine & NICU etc general wards and all-important necessary activities like prescription auditing, medication therapy management, medication error reporting, drug interactions, storage, etc. All departments, departmental HODs have given us information regarding their respective department and how to connect this whole department work with IP pharmacy.The students felt satisfaction for the visit of such reputed multi-speciality Hospital.Students enjoyed the visit and also grasped knowledge.
We expressed our profound gratitude to the Ms.Vrinda Mittal, Assistant Manager for her kind support and fostering the students during this visit. Faculty and students of GCOP were welcomed by the Mr. Neeraj Shukla (Care Manager)on behalf of Apollo Cradle and Apollo Spectra Hospital.
